Is there anybody out there....(MISSION STATEMENT)...

Greetings.....

I have been on a serious hustle hiatus. For those who enjoy my music I wanna let you know that I have been creatively exhausted due to a lengthy and frustrating release process from my first label contract (southbeat). The industry is in shambles and lately pulling inspiration from the world around me has been painfully similar to a long sitting under a dentist's drill. (Pause)

I due to plan to release the third and final segment of "The Waiting Room" mixtape series and follow up with a project that will closely resemble how I would have wanted my debut release to sound. I'm not quite sure how I want to continue in this direction but no matter what I will always make music because I love doing it, but as far as putting it out to people, that's a different story. At this point I have no regrets about any choices i've made or any of the people i've worked with. I'm still growing as a human being and as an artist. While I figure this out I want to say thank you to anyone who has bought music from me or wrote me to tell me they appreciated something I wrote or said. To date, I have traveled a great deal and met so many dope people through this music thing we all love. For that i'm incredibly grateful.

As far as my ventures into movie mischief (BagginsTv) and my blogging i'll be updating this and the youtube on a more regular basis due to the fact that i've realised i'm on the net at my job and home enough hours to have more updates than you can shake a stick at. Word....Well....now that's off my chest...I'm gonna get back to bumping my gap band classics at my pornographic job and taking a vodka break with my good friend Beanpie.......

"Lookout" --- Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings

It was about 6 months ago that I was looking through my itunes library which I share with my good friend Rudi Goblen (myspace.com/rudigoblen) when I came across Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. At the time when I listened to their music I wouldn't have believed the records I was hearing were released in the 90's. That would explain me getting the same feeling when I heard Amy Winehouse's newest album "Back To Black". I would later learn that the Dap Kings were the backing band to her album and live show (which I caught at coachella 07). Needless to say, i've been jamming out to The Dap Kings with Sharon and Amy. If your into dope funk you must check them out.

You can also take a tour of their Brooklyn studio which is as old school as it gets....

Daptone Studio Tour

Stay tuned for more "Lookout"......and for god sakes go buy a Sharon Jones/Dap Kings record........

Well....It's about Freakin Time....

From BillBoard.com

"For the first time in his 14-year career, Common tops The Billboard 200 with "Finding Forever." The Geffen set, which features production from Kanye West and a guest appearance by Lily Allen, moved 155,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Common's 2005 effort, "Be," debuted and peaked at No. 2 but had a better sales tally with 185,000."

Well...it's about freakin time....This kind of hip hop artist should have topped the charts years ago. Although "Finding Forever" is not as good as i was hoping on a whole, there are still some great songs to be heard from it. Hear my favorite track from "Finding Forever" below....

"Black Maybe"-- Featuring Bilal

Here's to you common sense.....Congrats from those who have been supporting you from the start...

"Lost In China' Part 1.....

"Lost In Translation"-- China Journal Entry #1

If your wondering....that's me in the vip bathroom at club Bonbon in Shanghai....and oddly enough i was sober. I've been in Shanghai for 3 days now and i feel like an alien on another planet. Besides the music in the clubs and a few other things here and there that are similar to home it's safe to say Kansas doesn't even exist where i'm at. I walked out of the airport into a sea of faces, wandered around for a bit and tried to be as calm as possible while running the scenario of no one picking me up through my head. After about 10-15 minutes looking around in and outside this cat from the club walked up to me and said "Miller?"....I dont think i've ever been so happy to hear my last name. (I've come to later find out that the residents who work at the club never got my name and have been calling me MC Miller ever since..and that's prounounced Mc MEEELAA..LOL..)

We got a dope little apartment off in the cut. 3 bedrooms occupied by myself, Dj Idee, and Dj Infader from Jacksonville. Until the first show we didn't do much except take an introductory walk around the neighborhood and a trip to the nearest little market, mall, and the craziest supermarket i've ever been to in my entire life (more on that spot later). Other than that it's really just been laying around shaking the jet lag...eating idee's grilled cheese sandwiches and watching dvd's (Mostly Simpsons, Old Trinidad fights, and you know I had to watch Grandma's Boy at least once already).

We did our first show last night at club Bonbon. The club is out of hand. People pay a flat rate to get in and then it's open bar all night long. I dont recommend the vodka and orange though. I had like 5 of those last night and i swear to you I didn't even feel a bit buzzed. Maybe that explains the open bar. I'm gonna have to try beer next time. We got on at 1 am and it was thick. The crowd was pretty responsive and it never ceases to amaze me what songs people across the globe do and do not know. Idee played songs that got a lot of response and then there were records I thought would get them hype but they didn't seem to know them. It was weird. We figured that's the jist of the month long residency. By the end of the month we'll have felt them out and figured what works and what doesn't.

Here's a clip from the first couple of minutes of the set at Bonbon.

When i started writing this blog i was sitting in soaking wet shorts from what was supposed to be a small trip to the market which then turned into us getting caught in a freak storm. At least we made a pitstop to hide from the rain in a bootleg dvd spot.

Well...i'm out for now....next up...b-boy battles at a giant water park and Hooters in Shanghai....Here's to being lost....Cheers!

Long Trip Ahead (Baggins Teaser)

Damn...i'm tired....and i got a long ass flight ahead of me....Before I leave to run a muck in China I threw together a little teaser of the madness that is "Baggins Tv"....It'll be up and running after I get back....Check it out...!

Another Track From The Runaround Sessions.....

What up kiddies......

It's that time again.....Time for another track from "The Runaround" Sessions....I figured after Keith Olbermann went on that rant towards bush it was only right to pull a track from the vault that matched the vibe. If you didn't see Keith's piece on the air click here.

This track was recorded in 2004. It was the first track i got to record for the album in Miami because prior to that time Southbeat didn't have a studio and we were recording in Ny & La. So this ended up being the first session in the brand new Southbeat studio which was pretty dope.

The track is called "Murderer" and it's produced by my man Blockhead (aesop rock,
Mr.lif, Slug, Murs). I wrote it right around the time the country was embarking on the beginning of the war i'm pretty sure we're still stuck in. I never would have thought that I could play this track 3 years later and it still be relevant to what's going on....

Needless to say, I definitely feel my song making process has gotten a lot better since this one but I guess you can't appreciate where your at without knowing where you been....

Here it is.....

"Murderer" -- Produced By Blockhead

Wrek album coming soon??....Don't count on it!....Introducing...The Runaround Sessions....

I was pretty sure of it already but today I saw the confirmation. The album i've been working on for 3 years @ Southbeat will probably never see the light of day. They made me sit on it for too long and now it will probably only see a very small digital release, if at all. I've felt for at least this last year that no one there has any faith in what I do but now i'm certain of it. It's lookin like my actual debut album will be completely new material and possibly on a completely different label. C'est La Vie I suppose....I've met a gangload of cool cats through my situation over there and i've got no regrets and I wouldn't go back and do it different. I could even go as far as to say that it's for the best because as i listen back to the album I really feel i've grown past some of that sound and most of those ideals. Even to the point where my mixtapes come out sounding better than the album I've been sitting on. Nevertheless, I'll be releasing some random tracks from the album to anyone who wants to add them to their collection. The material dates back as far as 3 years, so some of it is going to sound young on my part. Anyone who knows my shit will probably be able to tell the difference. Hope you enjoy what you hear and it gives you a feeling of the shit I had to go through and why I ultimately ended up naming the album "The Runaround".....

The first track is called "You Oughta Know"...It's featuring my good friend Bernbiz from ¡Mayday!. He also produced the track. We got "Myagi" otherwise known as 8T8 on the keys and DJ NVS Styles on the Cuts....Stay tuned for more tracks to come...

You Oughta Know (Featuring Bernbiz)

American Psycho......

what up peoples....I threw a little video together to the sound of "American Psycho" from my last mixtape....i'm an amateur video editor and i'm not an expert on getting the quality right for youtube but I figured i'd toss it up anyway..it is a free country right?..lol....enjoy....

Pearl Returns In "Good Cop Bad Baby"....

I Survived CFFC 5!!!!

So...It's sunday night and I am beat. Just got back from Atlantic city today and lemme tell you our good friend kimbo came out the gate reppin strong. I don't think Mercer even knew what happened to him. It was over real fast but it was everything we hoped it would be. Congrats To Team Kimbo!! Miami can't be more proud...We'll definitely be their to support you on the next one.

In other related news the slot machines got the best of me. If the post fight celebration with the crew wouldn't have been so crazy I swear I would of gone back an repped on those devilish one armed bandits. Unfortunately we never made it to Blackjack..But that was probably for the best......!

All in all we had a blast out there. Kimbo came home a champ and pretty much did everything he said he was going to do. At the fight it looked like he was challenging Tank Abbott so, who knows, maybe that's the next CFFC in September! Hope everything is well on your side...

Bare Knuckle Brawler......

So...after a couple months straight of working this graveyard shift....it's official...I'm announcing it here first...I HAVE INSOMNIA!!!....It's all starting to feel like one big day...I played hooky last night and tried to sleep off the jitters but...after some weird ass dreams that woke me up at 3am, it was wide open eyelids from then on in...If any of you guys have good sleeping tips that don't require over the counter medication do holla @ ya boy.....

About a week and a day from today the crew and I will be heading to Atlantic city to see our good friend Kimbo enter into what could prove to be the most important fight in the launching of his career. If you get the pay per view look out for us. We should be on the floor somewhere heavily intoxicated and depending on how the gambling treats me, I should be smiling.

To prepare for this momentous occasion I thought I'd offer up this unreleased "Bare Knuckle Freestyle" from last year I did inspired by my friend the street brawler himself...Enjoy!.....See y'all @ the fight!!!!!

Paris HIlton Heading Back To A Resort A Little Less....um.....Hilton!

I gotta admit it....I'm not a huge fan of people that are famous for no reason. Especially when that person seems as shallow and aimless as Paris Hilton but I did feel a little bad for her when Sarah Silverman ripped into her at the mtv movie awards but....oh well......life goes on...and now a word from our sponsors.......

Common -- The Game (Video)

In the midst of a rapidly declining record industry dealt serious blows from bootlegging and covered in more untalented people than American Idol tryouts, it's dope to see well rounded artists still killing the game and makin money doing it. I really hope he can equal or better the sales from his last album "Be". I can definitely say "Finding Forever" will be the first album I've bought in a minute now. Here's Common with "The Game"...

Sex?...I'm Just Waiting For The Bus......

My friend Gaz was filming for Hood Rich dvd's and came across this classic as it unfolded...Apparently this hooker approached this guy and offered him some suck and when he refused she tried to steal his phone and then went to wailing on him. The best part is when he retaliates with a flying kick and some flailing arms to follow.

Next time a crack ho walks up on you tell her.....I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE BUS!!!!!

This has been brought to you exclusively by Baggins Family Produce Bitches!!!!

Cribs: Baggins Family Edition!

So I was watching Mtv Cribs and feeling quite shitty about my living situation until my boy Rob introduced me to Baggins Family Cribs...Look Out Lil Wayne...You aint got nothing on this......
